JJB appoints new chief exec

Tom Knight takes helm at sports retailer

JJB Sports has announced the appointment of Tom Knight as chief executive.

Knight joined JJB last month from Blacks Leisure, where he held several positions including managing director of their Sport and Fashion Division.
He became operations director following the death of chief executive Duncan Sharpe on October 7.
JB said Knight has strong experience of the retail sports sector. David Whelan, chairman, said: “The Board of JJB is delighted to be able to appoint a candidate of Tom’s calibre as Chief Executive. JJB has great opportunities in the years ahead and Tom is the right person to execute the strategy and deliver the potential of the business.”
