Specialist camera retailer reports sales boost
December 27 2002
Jessops saw underlying sales in the four weeks before Christmas rise by 9.4 per cent.
The country’s largest camera retailer saw sales rise by 24.2 per cent in the four weeks to December 24, with like-for-like sales up 9.4 per cent.
The Saturday before Christmas, December 21, saw the best ever single day’s trading in the company’s 67-year history. The strong performance was driven by sales of digital cameras and digital imaging products, which Jessops says it is one of the highest growth areas in the retail industry.
Jessops, which is privately owned, operates 243 stores in the UK.
