Harvey Nichols directors resign
Three non-execs leave department store group
December 31 2002
Three non-executive directors of department store group Harvey Nichols, including deputy chairman John Gray, have resigned with immediate effect.
The departure of Gray, along with fellow directors Keith Holman and Nigel Rich, follows the decision by owner and chairman Dickson Poon to take the business private.
That move led to protests by major institutional shareholder Deutsche Asset Management, which argued that Poon’s 250p-a share offer undervalued the business.
The three non-execs had been on the Harvey Nichols boards since April 1996. Gray is a former director of HSBC Holdings, Holman is an executive director of Landswell, and Rich was previously managing director of Jardine Matheson Holdings.
