Games Workshop’s first half performance in line with expectations

Games Workshop has said it is trading in line with expectations after reporting that it made sales of around £124 million in the first half of its financial year.

In the six months to 2 December, the company’s operating profit was approximately £41 million.

In a statement, the company said: “These results are in line with expectations for the year ending 2 June 2019 although the Board is aware that it is still early in the 2018/19 financial year.”

The company said its Warhammer Hobby offering is “in great shape” in its core marketsa and that it is building on progress made last year. It added: “The results are considerable given the backdrop of major projects; increasing factory capacity and ERP system implementation.”

Games Workshop has also declared a dividend of 30 pence per share, in line with the company’s policy of distributing truly surplus cash. This will be paid on 25 January 2019 for shareholders on the register at 21 December 2018.

The company is expected to issue its full half-yearly report for the six months period on 15 January 2019.
