First Amazon 4-star store opens in UK

Amazon has opened its first Amazon 4-star store outside of the US in the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

The shop will be selling a range of products that are top sellers on its website or rated with four stars or trending.

Amazon said the store is a direct reflection of what customers are buying and liking on its website. Categories include consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen items, homewares and more. Customers will also be able to select from a full range of Amazon devices, including Kindle e-Readers, Fire Tablets, and Echo Dots.

Andy Jones, director of  Amazon 4-star UK, said: “The Amazon 4-star store is a great place for customers to discover hot new releases, guaranteed page-turners, top-selling electronics, and more. Every part of the store is designed with our customers in mind and we think they will be delighted by the curated selection of the most-loved products at great prices, opportunity to test drive Amazon’s latest devices, and the convenience of pickup and returns.”

Unique to Amazon 4-star, customers will be able to browse sections showing popular Amazon.co.uk items from ‘wish lists’, products trending locally around Bluewater and the top items ordered as gifts.

Amazon said the assortment will change on a regular basis as the store’s  curators respond to customer feedback and keep up with emerging trends.

Digital price tags for each product will display the item’s price, average star rating and the number of customer reviews.  While Amazon account holders will pay the same price as they would on Amazon.co.uk,  Prime members will receive exclusive perks and deals throughout the store.

In addition, customers will be able to purchase from the millions of items available at Amazon.co.uk and collect orders at the store as soon as the next day. The store will also offer parcel-free and label-free returns for items purchased both in-store and online.#

Rob Hardie, portfolio director for Landsec, the co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater commented: “We are excited to welcome the UK’s first Amazon 4-star store to Bluewater. We aim to create retail destinations that offer guests retail and leisure that cannot be found anywhere else.”
