Dixons Buys Mobile Service Operator

Move Aims To strengthen Presence in B2B Mobile Market

May 8 2002

Dixons Group has acquired business to business mobile phone service provider Genesis Communications.

Genesis Communications is one of the leading mobile contract service providers to small and medium sized businesses acquiring subscribers through telesales and a face to face sales force. Its management team, led by MD Ian Blackhurst, will continue to lead the business as part of the Dixons Group.
The Genesis acquisition provides the Dixons Group with a base from which to create a market leading IT and telecoms convergent solutions provider for the lucrative small business market. Dixons sees the move as an important step towards increasing its share of the business sector of the mobile communications market.
Dixons Group Chief Executive, John Clare, said: “Genesis has a strong and experienced management team whose can-do attitude has enabled them to establish a solid reputation in the small business mobiles sector. Bringing Genesis into the Dixons Group will greatly strengthen our telecoms offer to business customers of PC World and The Link. This acquisition is a significant step in our objective of creating a leading IT and telecoms convergent solutions provider in the business to business market.”
