Boots seeking successor for Russell
Headhunters appointed says newspaper report
December 12 2002
Health and Beauty retailer Boots has appointed headhunters to find a replacement for chief executive Steve Russell, according to a report in the Times.
The company would not comment on its reported move to plan the succession for Russell, who is due to retire in 2005.
The City has been lukewarm on Russell’s revamp strategy for the retail chain, and is concerned about the increasing share of the health and beauty market being taken by retailers such as Tesco and Asda.
The Times names as potential replacements Stuart Rose, the outgoing chief executive of Arcadia; Sara Weller, assistant managing director of Sainsbury’s; and Tim Mason, marketing and e-commerce director of Tesco.
