AO to provide delivery services for Aldi Specialbuys

Online electricals retailer AO has teamed up with Aldi to provide a delivery service for the supermarket’s Specialbuys ranges that require home delivery.

In a three-year partnership, AO will use its experience of delivering large white goods and other electrical items to begin offering a similar service for Aldi customers ordering Specialbuys products. AO’ s logistics network covers 95% of the UK.

Many of Aldi’s Specialbuys, wines and spirits are already available to purchase online, but the partnership will enable the supermarket to offer delivery services for larger products such as barbecues, patio furniture and sports equipment. Aldi customers will benefit from the range of services that AO can offer, including increased weekend delivery options.

David Barter, managing director of national IT at Aldi, said: “Our online Specialbuys are going from strength to strength, and this partnership with AO will allow us to offer customers even more options for our larger products that require home delivery.”

Founded in 2000 by John Roberts, AO was previously known as Appliances Online but rebranded in 2013 to become AO.com. In February 2014 the company floated on the London Stock Exchange as AO World.

David Ashwell, managing director of AO Logistics, said: “We are extremely proud of the award-winning logistics capability we have built here at AO. There’s no better stamp of approval than other retailers, like Aldi, wanting to partner with us to help them deliver exceptional service to their customers.”
