Waitrose opens new store in the UAE

Waitrose & Partners has opened a new shop in the UAE under licence with Fine Fare Food Market.

Employing 60 people, the shop is situated in a new extension of The Galleria Mall on Al Marayah Island in Abu Dhabi.

The retailer is also planning to launch its first shop on The Palm in Dubai as part of the opening of the new Nakheel Mall. Due to open by the end of the year, the store will be the largest supermarket on the man-made island and will employ 80 people.

Customers at both stores will be able to choose items from the retailer’s Essential Waitrose, Waitrose Duchy Organic and Waitrose & Partners No. 1 ranges. The shops will offer a wide selection of Waitrose products including fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat, frozen food and non-food lines.  They will also sell a range of bakery and delicatessen lines.

The new shops will take the total number of Waitrose stores in the Middle East to ten.

Barry Delehanty, head of B2B growth and development at Waitrose & Partners, said: “We’re incredibly proud that the quality of our products and the trust in our brand continues to appeal to the international market.”
