Waitrose launches drinks magazine

Waitrose has launched a new customer magazine called Waitrose Drinks as it looks to expand its publication portfolio.

The first issue has now been published and the second issue will follow in early November.

Waitrose’s other magazines include Waitrose Food, Waitrose Weekend and Waitrose Garden.

The new drinks magazine will explore a range of ciders, wines, beers and spirits and offer readers advice for entertaining and preparing cocktails. There will also be insights from Waitrose’s wine buying team using content from WaitroseCellar.com, the supermarket’s specialist drinks website.

Ollie Rice, editor in chief at Waitrose, said: “We’re thrilled to be adding Waitrose Drinks to our range. The drinks industry is really growing with exciting products emerging all the time, from craft beer to unusual varieties of gin. This magazine will offer readers a new insight into the world of drink and as with all our other titles will be packed with ideas and inspiration for relaxing, hosting or celebrating.”

The magazine’s new editor, Joanna Simon, was a wine critic for The Sunday Times for 22 years. She was also wine and food editor of House and Garden magazine and is a co-founder of The Wine Gang. Contributors include wine enthusiast Phillip Schofield who will regularly write about his favourite tipple, Masters of Wine Susie Barrie and Peter Richards, and comedian Jenny Éclair.

Waitrose Drinks magazine is £2 or free to all MyWaitrose customers.
