Tim Hortons to open first outlet in Northern Ireland

Tim Hortons, the Canadian coffee shop chain, is to open its first Northern Irish store this month in Belfast.

With the launch planned for 25 May, the branch will be situated on Fountain Street in the city centre.

Tim Hortons expects to open a number of coffee shops in Northern Ireland over the coming year, some of which will be drive thrus.

The new Belfast outlet will create several new job opportunities including those for managers and assistant managers. In addition, the first 100 people in the queue on the opening day will receive a free “lunch combo” once the doors open, and the first person in the queue will be given a year’s supply of free Tim Hortons brewed coffee.

The first Tim Hortons in the UK opened its doors in Glasgow in June 2017. Since then, the brand has launched a further 17 outlets.

Kevin Hydes, chief finance and commercial officer of the Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing our famous brewed coffee, baked goods and freshly-prepared food to the people of Belfast. Following the success of our recent restaurant openings in Scotland, Wales and in England, we can’t wait to bring a taste of Canada to Northern Ireland at our new restaurant and welcome new Guests to Tim Hortons.”

In 2018 nearly eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold across Canada are served at Tim Horton coffee shops and more than 5.3 million Canadians visit the outlets daily.
