Tesco to trial new bakery concept in six stores

Tesco is to pilot a new space called The Bakery in six of its largest stores where many of the products will include reformulated recipes and limited-edition ranges.

In addition, the space will feature a new look and feel for the retailer spanning decor, shelving and signage.

In line with plans to reduce packaging and waste, Tesco will display more loose products in the area. Products will include items such as Teatime Treats, Everyday Favourites and Tesco Finest Signature Bakes.

The six trial stores will include Amersham, Brackley, Edinburgh Leith, Hatfield Extra, Hayes Bull Bridge Extra and Park Road.

James Waddy, Tesco category director for bakery, told the Grocer: “We’re delighted to trial our new bakery offer with customers in six of our large stores. The aim is to showcase new and improved products, offering customers great quality and value for all occasions.”
