Tesco hires new non-exec director
The Tesco supermarket chain has hired Melissa Bethell as a non-executive director.
Bethell is currently a partner at Atairos, an investment fund backed by Comcast NBC Universal, where she is the managing partner of Atairos Europe. She was previously a managing director of private equity firm Bain Capital where she remains a senior advisor. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Bethell worked in the Capital Markets group at Goldman, Sachs & Co.
She is also currently a director of Exor, a listed holding company for the Agnelli family.
Tesco chairman John Allan said: “I am delighted to welcome Melissa to the board as a non-executive director. Her broad range of skills and experience will be of significant benefit to the board as we implement our strategy.”
Bethell will also become a member of the board’s audit committee.
