Sainsbury’s Argos names new marketing director

Sainsbury’s Argos has appointed Gary Kibble as its new marketing director.

Due to join the company in “the next few months”, Kibble has been global brand and marketing director at Mothercare for nearly two years.

Prior to this, he worked with Shop Direct where he spent over ten years in senior marketing and brand roles, including group retail brand director. At Shop Direct, he also re-branded Littlewoods Direct and launched Very.co.uk, whilst introducing Trinny and Susannah and Myleene Klass as brand ambassadors for the Littlewoods brand.

Kibble began his career in 1994 at WH Smith where he joined as a graduate trainee and rose up the ranks to the position of business director for books.

In his new role at Sainsbury’s Argos, Kibble will report to Bertrand Bodson, chief digital and marketing officer, and be a member of the management board.

Bodson said: “I am delighted to welcome Gary to the team. He is a first-class marketing professional whose strong digital and business transformation experience will be a great asset to us as we grow the business and integrate with Sainsbury’s.”
