Uniqlo to enter Vietnam

Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo is preparing to enter the Vietnamese market by opening a store in Ho Chi Minh City in the autumn of 2019.

The company said it will be working to establish the brand in the city before considering launching other stores in the country.

The move is part of Uniqlo’s South East Asia expansion plans.

Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and chief executive of Uniqlo’s parent company Fast Retailing. said: “Our entry into Vietnam is an exciting milestone for everyone at Uniqlo. The Southeast Asia region has been an important driver of growth for us, and we are pleased and optimistic about our opportunity to be a part of such an exciting economy and retail market.”

To help it recruit staff for the store, Uniqlo will be setting up its Uniqlo Manager Candidate programme in the country as part of its market preparations.
