Moss Bros announces chairman designate appointment

Men’s formalwear retailer Moss Bros has appointed Joules chief executive Colin Porter as a non-director with a view to him becoming its new chairman following its annual general meeting in May.

He will take over from Debbie Hewitt who will be retiring on the ninth anniversary of her appointment.

Porter has been at the helm of Joules since 2010 and has been credited with developing the lifestyle fashion retailer’s successful international multichannel strategy. He also oversaw the company’s IPO on to AIM in May 2016.

Prior to Joules, he held various senior management roles in the retail sector including commercial director at House of Fraser and joint managing director at Crombie.

Hewitt said: “I am delighted to have delivered on my commitment to provide a strong successor and well-planned transition. As well as his proven multichannel experience, Colin brings broad strategic, international, retailing skills, within a private and listed board environment. I am sure that he will bring strong leadership to our board and all of the skills required for the next stage in our development.”
