Deichmann to expand in UK

German shoe retailer Deichmann is to expand further in the UK as it gets ready to launch a new collection with  Rita Ora.

The Evening Standard has reported that the retailer intends to increase its store numbers in the coming year. It currently has 102 stores in the UK following nine openings in 2018.

Deichmann saw its sales climb by 3.5% to £98.1 million in 2018.   The retailer attributed the uplift to higher levels of discounting to clear excess stock. However, it made a pre-tax loss of £1.4 million compared to a profit of £332,000 in the prior year.
