Luxury brand Burberry has appointed Debra Lee as a non-executive director.

Due to take up her position on 1 October, she will also be a member of Burberry’s audit and nomination committees.

Lee is the founder and chief executive of Leading Women Defined and is also a non-executive director at AT&T and Marriott International.

From 2006 to 2018, she was chairman and chief executive of  Viacom’s Black Entertainment Television. She also served for over three years as a non-executive director of Twitter until July 2019 .

Gerry Murphy, Burberry chairman, said: “Debra Lee is exceptionally qualified as an experienced non-executive director of leading global technology and service companies and former CEO of the world’s leading African-American media network.
