Asos appoints new womenswear director

Asos has appointed Elena Martinez Ortiz as its new womenswear director for Asos Design.

Martínez Ortiz has worked with Inditex owned Stradivarius for the last 18 years where her most recent role has been product director.

It is understood that she will relocate from Barcelona to London for her new position which will see her taking responsibility for Asos Design, the retailer’s core collection. This will include expanding the range and availability of products.

Martínez Ortiz will report to Asos’s recently appointed chief executive José Calamonte, who has also previously worked with Inditex, until his successor as chief commercial officer is named.

She will take up her new role on 30 August.
