Asos appoints Mark Holland as chief operating officer

Online fashion retailer Asos has appointed Mark Holland to the newly created role of chief operating officer.

Having worked for Asos for the last six years, Holland was most recently the retailer’s supply chain director where he was responsible for the global trading, customer care and supply chain functions.

In his new position, Holland will continue to lead those departments but will also be responsible for the retailer’s more significant transformation projects. These include the upcoming launch and automation of its new warehouse in Atlanta, a move to a new retail planning and merchandising system, and further automation at a Berlin fulfilment centre. In addition, he will oversee improvements at the retailer’s headquarters in London and customer care centre in Leavesden.

Holland will also become a member of the Asos executive board while continuing to report to Nick Beighton, Asos chief executive.

Beighton said: “Mark’s well-deserved appointment is a reflection of the significant contribution he has made to the business over the last six years and the skills he possesses, which will be invaluable to us as we position ourselves for further growth.”

Last year, Asos saw its retail sales climb by 26% as profit rose by 28% at £102 million.
