Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne to leave M&S in shake-up of marketing function

Marks & Spencer is to devolve its corporate marketing teams into its clothing and home and food businesses.

Once the process is complete at the end of May, Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, executive director of customer, marketing and M&S.com, will leave the business although he has already stepped down from the board.

Bousquet-Chavanne has served on the M&S board for the last six years.

Steve Rowe, M&S chief executive, said: “Patrick has overseen some extraordinary marketing programmes for M&S corporately and made great strides in laying the foundations of our digital business as well as extending our Plan A credentials. He brought great brand marketing skills and creativity to the business. We thank him for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”

As part of its transformation programme, M&S is aiming to make the business faster and more commercial by working through a family of accountable businesses, each with its own leadership. As a result, most of the corporate marketing team members will now report to the marketing directors of the clothing and home and food businesses.

The retailer has recently recruited Sharry Cramond from Southeastern Grocers to head up food marketing and appointed Nathan Ansell to lead marketing for the clothing and home business.
