WH Smith opens Malta Airport store
WH Smith has opened its first store in Malta International Airport.
Opened in partnership with Miller Distributors, the store is situated in the airside departures area and is a conversion from the previous NBC store, operated by Miller.
The shop has been updated to WH Smith’s latest brand standard with a modern layout. The retailer expects to open two further stores at the airport.
WH Smith and Miller previously had a joint venture from the 1940s until the late 1970s which originally imported press and books for the British servicemen stationed in Malta.
Louis de Bourgoing, WH Smith international director said: “We are delighted to bring the WHSmith brand to Malta. We believe the brand will resonate well with Malta International Airport’s passengers, many of whom will have travelled from airports in the UK and Northern Europe where WH Smith already has stores.”
