The Entertainer to open its 100th store

Multi-channel toy retailer The Entertainer has announced plans to open its 100th store this spring.

The new store in Aylesbury will launch on 14 March as part of plans to open 14 additional stores across the UK in 2015.

After opening nine new stores in 2014, The Entertainer saw its total sales climb by 12.2% in the five weeks to December. Like-for-like sales grew by 5.5% year-on-year.

Gary Grant, managing director of The Entertainer, said: “After experiencing such solid growth across the UK, we are pleased to announce the opening of our 100th store which marks a major milestone for The Entertainer. We wish our new store manager Jennifer Allison the very best of luck in the new store, and we look forward to bringing joy and wonder to the children of Aylesbury and to continuing our expansion in 2015 onto more high streets throughout the UK.”

Founded by Grant and his wife Catherine in 1981, The Entertainer now employs over 1,200 people in its stores, with the number rising to over 1,900 in the run-up to Christmas. A further 150 people are based at its head office in Amersham. The Entertainer donates 10% of its net annual profit to charity each year.
