The City view - Home Retail

Archived article dated Friday September 5th 2008

Ahead of the second quarter trading update from Home Retail, Shore Capital continues to regard it as one its favoured picks in the general retail sector.

Although the broker predicts that Home Retail's share price will come under pressure in the short term, along with the rest of the sector, it views any such weakness as an opportunity to buy into the group. It therefore retains its 'Buy' recommendation on the company. Home Retail's attributes that appeal most to Shore are its cash-rich balance sheet, relatively attractive valuation, its value proposition (chiefly through Argos), and it also suggests that it will be a likely beneficiary of consolidation in the sector in the future.
