Plans for a Tesco store and petrol station in the centre of Barnstaple have been approved by local councillors.
Devon Council's planning committee voted in favour of plans for the 95,000 square foot store complex on the Brian Fords site at Seven Brethren.
Tesco accepted a compromise application of 65 per cent food to 35 non food goods at the store, which will also feature 497 parking spaces, plus filling station, car wash and connecting road link. Tesco said the development should create 285 jobs.
