Seven Dials benefits from ‘Style Saturday’ event

Retailers in the Seven Dials shopping district of London were able to benefit from a free one day shopping event at the weekend organised in partnership with London Evening Standard and ES Magazine.

Called Style Saturday, over 100 shops, bars and restaurants participated in the event which offered a variety of experiential activities throughout the day. Over 90,000 people visited Seven Dials with footfall up 48% on the previous week.

The area was traffic free and filled with entertainment and the iconic central dial monument was transformed into an urban garden complete with pop-up tepee and green lawn with deck chairs.

The activities included live music, free cake and flower crowns to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, fashion illustrations, giant letter stencilling, strawberries and cream and free G&T’s from a pop-up Sipsmith Gin Garden.

In addition, an exclusive ‘In conversation with’ Q&A session was hosted with brands such as Cambridge Satchel Company Mens, Murdock, Serge Denimes, Native and Tredwell’s.

There were also ‘flash sales’ from brands such as Another Space, Caudalie, Talli Joe, Natural Selection and B1866 and street food snacks were on offer from Casanova and Daughters, Gelupo and The Escapologist.

Karen Baines, head of group marketing and communications at Shaftesbury, said: “Seven Dials StyleSaturday was a way to raise the presence of the area as well as a great footfall driver across the weekend. It was fantastic to see so many of our retailers coming together for this event and offering unique and engaging activities and offerings. The area was incredibly busy with an amazing atmosphere as visitors enjoyed the experience throughout the area.”

Visitors to Seven Dials also had the opportunity to give something back to the community as the evnt raised money for London’s leading homelessness charity The Connection,Seven Dials’ chosen charity partner for 2016.
