Screwfix pilots four stores in Germany

Screwfix has expanded in Europe with the launch of four trial stores in Germany.

The Kingfisher owned tool, plumbing and electrical equipment retailer has opened stores in Offenbach, Hanau, Dreieich and Koblenz, which are all in the Rhine-Main area of Germany.

Customers across the country are also able to order for next day delivery through a dedicated German website, which offers a range of more than 9,000 products.

The four new stores and German based head office have created 110 new jobs, with all store team members employed from the local areas.

Andrew Livingston, chief executive at Screwfix, said: “After receiving so much interest in our website from international customers, the decision to expand into Germany is part of our continuing effort to help develop our market with both new and existing Screwfix customers.

“Over 4 million customers shop with us in the UK and we are looking forward to being able to offer the same successful experience to the German market.”

The German website offers a five minute click and collect service which allows customers to check stock availability and collect their purchases five minutes later in store.
