Sainsbury's installs Christmas card recycling bins in 500 stores

Wednesday January 2nd 2013

Sainsbury's is offering customers help with dealing with their post-Christmas waste by enabling them to donate their Christmas cards for recycling at participating stores.

Christmas card recycling bins will be available in 500 stores throughout the country until 15 January. In addition, Sainsbury’s will make a donation to the Forest Stewardship Council based on the volume of cards collected.

The supermarket said that almost 50 tonnes of Christmas cards were recycled from its store collection points last year, resulting in a donation of almost £7,000 to the FSC for its education and outreach work.
