QVC to launch two new standalone shopping channels

QVC has announced that it is to launch two new shopping channels next week.

On 13 August, QVC Style and QVC Extra will launch on Sky, Freesat, www.qvcuk.com and, for viewers with internet connected TVs, on Freeview. The move will double the number of QVC TV standalone channels available.

QVC Style, which previously broadcasted as an interactive channel only available on Sky, will focus on fashion, fashion accessories and fashion jewellery, while QVC Extra will showcase “the best of QVC’s entire product range”.

Both channels will be on air 24 hours a day, seven days a week and QVC Extra will also be available on QVC’s main TV channel during night-time hours between 2am and 9am.

Meanwhile, QVC Active on Sky Interactive is being switched off as a result of more customers choosing to use smartphones and tablets for ordering.

Steve Bridgeman, chief merchandising officer at QVC, said: “QVC Beauty has been hugely successful which is why we are launching QVC Style and QVC Extra as standalone specialist channels for our viewers. It’s also good news for our vendors as they have another opportunity to reach customers who want to watch specific product categories.

“We’re switching off the QVC Active service as customers, whether at home or on-the-go, are using our faster mobile apps to order.”
