Private equity firms eye up Card Factory

A number of private equity firms are eyeing up greeting cards retailer Card Factory, according to reports.

Cinven, Advent International, KKR and Clayton Dubilier & Rice, are among those interested in purchasing Card Factory, The Telegraph has reported.

The deadline for first round bids is understood to be today following owner Charterhouse’s decision to move ahead with a sale of the company.

Founded in 1997 by husband and wife Janet and Dean Hoyle, Card Factory was bought by private equity firm Charterhouse in 2010.

The company, which designs, sources and produces its own greeting cards, has around 650 stores.
