Paul Smith to open first standalone store in Australia

Luxury fashion brand Paul Smith will open its first standalone store in Australia next month.

The 250 sq m store in Melbourne will feature two floors of retail space and sell clothing, jewellery, books, art and antiques.

Located in the Collins Street district of the city, the flagship store will join brands such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Gucci, Ermenegildo Zegna and Chanel which have all opened stores in the city. Other fashion brands to move into Melbourne include Topshop, Gap and Zara.

Paul Smith has international stores in Paris, Milan, New York, the Far East and the Middle East, and is also planning to open a new store in Amsterdam this month.

Last year the Nottingham-based  company said it was planning a series of expansions across Europe and Australia after recording profits of £24 million.

Don’t miss the Retail Bulletin’s International Expansion Conference 2012, sponsored by GfK. The theme of the day is: Driving sales and market share, mitigating risk and strengthening your business through international multichannel growth strategies. Sharing expertise and best practice will be speakers from Tesco, New Look, Coast, WHSmith, Debenhams, Carphone Warehouse Group, Wiggle, JD Williams, Hamleys Group, TUI Travel, French Connection, GfK, Javelin Group, Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP, Chase Paymentech, OBAN.
