Online retail consultants celebrate completing two major contracts

Monday October 27th 2008

Liverpool internet consultants Transaction Partnership have helped two major retailers set up their own online stores.

Transaction was formed a year ago by two former Littlewoods executives, who helped the retail giant pioneer online sales in 1999 and who each have more than 20 years' experience in remote home retailing.

They ha

ve now helped sportswear and clothing firm O'Neill go online in four countries across Europe in just 96 days, with the company now looking to expand its internet operation even further.

And they have also helped Pets at Home launch an online sales site, selling everything from dog food and cat litter to rabbit hutches.

Richard Blanchard and Steve Goodheart of Transaction have been involved in the launch of 14 retail websites which now deliver annual net sales exceeding £1 billion.

Currently, 17p in every £1 spent on retail transactions in the UK is spent online and Transaction Partnership web operations director Steve Goodheart said: “In two years' time that figure could be 25p.

“Store sales are going down, but online sales are going up, so those retailers without an online presence will suffer. If businesses shy away from the investment now, they will be compounding that error by thinking they can ride out the recession without being online and invest in two years”.

Richard Blanchard, marketing director, said that the credit crunch was also an ideal time for existing online retailers to focus on improving the online shopping experience for customers.

He said: “This is the time to evolve your site to focus more on your customers and, for existing online stores, focus on getting it right and improving their service. This could involve, maybe, providing credit options that they don't already provide, helping people afford something that they need”.
