New Look and JD Sports sign up to Westfield Broadway

New Look and JD Sports are to open flagship stores at the new Westfield Broadway shopping centre which is currently under construction in Bradford.

The new signings mean that the centre is now over 50% let with other tenants including Boots, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Top Shop and River Island.

While New Look is taking a 10,500 square foot unit at the centre, JD Sports store has signed up to 9,200 square feet. Both stores will feature double-height frontages.

Sue Jarvis, head of group portfolio at New Look, said: “We are very pleased to be opening a New Look store in this exciting new retail development which will create an excellent shopping opportunity for the residents of Bradford.”

Warren Thompson, group acquisitions manager at JD Sports, added: “We look forward to playing a part in The Broadway’s retail offer, which will showcase the best of the UK high street to Bradford. Our new and larger store format will create a fantastic new shopping experience for local customers.”

The Broadway shopping centre is expected to create 2,500 retail jobs when it opens.

Keith Mabbett, Westfield’s director of leasing, said: “We are seeing increasing confidence in Bradford from UK retailers and the city has been recognised as one of the top ten new development opportunities in the UK.”
