May footfall up at Lowry Outlet Mall

Archived article dated Tuesday June 9th 2009

Lowry Outlet Mall trading figures for May 2009 show an 8% rise in footfall and a 7% rise in like-for-like sales compared to May 2008.

The Mall's results reflect a large rise in visits to the Vue Cinema - up 27% year-on-year - which is being dubbed the 'Star Trek effect' in recognition of the success of the latest movie in the franchise. The newly opened Bella Italia restaurant has joined Café Rouge, Pizza Express and Lime on the Plaza in reporting increased footfall, as customers soaked up the sunniest May for years with alfresco dining.

Centre manager Robert Hallworth says, “The Lowry Outlet Mall has performed way above expectations for May. The success has been down to strong, targeted marketing to really drive footfall as well as adding another great brand - Bella Italia - to our offering.
