Majestic launches new pricing strategy

Majestic Wine has unveiled a new pricing strategy throughout its store network and online that includes the removal of its six bottle minimum purchase rule.

The retailer said the new pricing proposition has been created with the aim of making the shopping experience simpler and easier for customers.

The decision to remove the six bottle minimum purchase rule follows a successful trial in selected Majestic stores which has been running since the Spring.

In addition, customers mixing any six wines and spirits in the run-up to Christmas will be offered “at least” 10% off and up to 33% off all wines and spirits. They will also be offered free delivery and free glass hire.

Rowan Gormley, Majestic Wine chief executive, said: “Our customers were telling us that they wanted simpler, clearer pricing, and an end to the six bottle minimum. This new structure is part of our wider plan to reposition Majestic Wine to become the go-to destination for the best quality wines at the best prices. There are now no barriers to shopping at Majestic, the pricing structure is very straightforward and I’m sure our customers will see this as a great move.”
