Little Princess sold to Japan and Korea

Following successful negotiations concluded at MIP-TV, The Illuminated Film Company (“Illuminated”) is happy to announce that broadcasting, DVD and licensing rights to Little Princess in Japan have been sold to Chuo Eiga Boeki (Central Film Trading).

Central Film Trading is one of the top televisual distributors in Japan, working in conjunction with H & M Incorporated, who have handled many of the MGM properties in Japan. TV broadcasting has quickly followed, with Kids Station taking both series (65 episodes) and commencing broadcast from July 2008.

Illuminated has also sold both series to Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) in Korea, where broadcasting of the series will begin this September. Illuminated is currently in negotiations on the video (DVD) and licensing rights for the same territory.

This completes a 'clean sweep' for Illuminated and TV Loonland, working in conjunction, for all significant territories in Asia. Europe's favourite Little Princess will have to learn a few new languages as she fast becomes the world's favourite Little Princess!

Iain Harvey, producer of the series, comments: 'I am especially happy to conclude these further sales as Illuminated has always had a very strong track record of success in both Korea and Japan, with such programmes as THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR by Eric Carle, as well as the Christmas specials of THE SNOWMAN and FATHER CHRISTMAS that I executive produced. I like to feel that LITTLE PRINCESS is especially suited to both territories as she has such a distinctive art style - and of course the books by Tony Ross have proved very popular in both territories.'
