Linley names Paddy Byng as new chief executive

Linley, the luxury furniture and home accessories brand, has appointed Paddy Byng as its new chief executive.

Having worked for the last four years as managing director of Asprey, Byng is a former chief executive of luxury leather goods brand Smythson. Prior to that, he held senior management positions at Polo Ralph Lauren in New York and Dunhill.

Due to join Linley in January, Byng succeeds current chief executive Anna Sweeting who is stepping down at the end of the year to pursue a new venture. He will be charged with continuing the expansion of the business across its product categories, sales channels and territories, reporting directly to the board.

David Linley, founder and chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Paddy to the company. This is a very exciting time for Linley as we have just delivered a record year in terms of sales growth and profit. With this strong foundation, and the wonderful team of people who work at the company, I am confident that Paddy will continue to deliver on the brand’s tremendous growth potential. I would also like to thank Anna for her leadership of Linley and wish her every success in her new venture.”

Byng added: “I am delighted to be joining Linley. I have long been an admirer of this beloved British brand and its mission of delivering the very best in terms of design, quality and craftsmanship. I look forward to taking over the reins from Anna and building on the excellent work of the last few years to further Linley’s growth both in the UK and internationally.”
