Julian Clary celebrates with Little Princess

Thursday January 31st 2008

By royal appointment: little princess assigns celebrity voice talent Julian Clary to launch born to play product range at Toy Fair 2008

Childrenīs brand management company TV-Loonland and Martin Yaffe International, the Master Toy Licensee for the critically acclaimed preschool show Little Princess (produced by The Illuminated Film Company), have appointed presenter/comedian Julian Clary to promote the first ever Little Princess toy range. Products from the Spring/Summer range and Autumn/Winter '08 lines will be unveiled at Toy Fair 2008. The first range of Little Princess toys will then launch in store at the end of February 2008.

Under the Born to Play brand, Martin Yaffe International will be launching items from the Spring/Summer collection including beanies of character favourites Gilbert, Puss, Scruff and Little Princess and plush toys of Little Princess and Gilbert. The Little Princess musical TV which plays the show theme tune will also be on display at Toy Fair 2008 plus a range of inflatables.

Little Princess outdoor items include an inflatable space hopper and an inflatable bouncy castle, inspired by the hit TV series. The Nessie Stick horse is based on the General's hobby horse and has sound effects that are activated by pressing Nessie's ears. Also available will be the inflatable spray pool and a selection of wheeled toys.

Visitors to the Born to Play stand will also get a sneak preview of the 2008 hero product from the Little Princess range: the Little Princess Castle Playset. This activity centre, set in Little Princess's castle, opens up to reveal the grand hallway staircase, living room, kitchen and bedrooms and is a replica of the castle from the TV show. The castle even has a lift and a slide for children to transport characters around the castle. With furniture and favourite figures from the show including the King, Queen, Little Princess, Scruff and Puss, the castle is suitable for children aged between 2 and 4 and will be available throughout the UK and Ireland along with other products from the new Born to Play Little Princess range.

Olivier Dumont, Managing Director of TV-Loonland, comments; “Little Princess has an extremely loyal fanbase which is rapidly increasing judging by the fantastic ratings the show is pulling in all key markets including the UK. The creativity and quality of the first toy samples we have seen come out of Martin Yaffe are absolutely stunning. They love and care about Little Princess and it shows!”

Peter Hatton, Toy Director of Martin Yaffe International, comments; “We are delighted to have been appointed Master Toy licensee for Little Princess and will be showcasing the new range at Toy Fair '08. Strong retail distribution is anticipated, with products due to be on shelf in time for Easter.”

Featuring the voice talents of international television and film star Jane Horrocks, and presenter/comedian Julian Clary, the animation series is based on the best-selling picture books by award winning author and illustrator Tony Ross and aimed at children aged 2-6 years. Rated the top programme on terrestrial TV in the UK in March 2007 (Source: DDS based on 4-6 year old target audience), the second 35 x 11' series of Little Princess is currently airing on FIVE Milkshake! and also proving a ratings success. The TV show has been sold in over 160 countries to date.
