John Lewis launches student placement schemes

The John Lewis Partnership has announced details of five industrial placement schemes for students taking a year out from university to gain work experience in the retail sector.

The placements will be available for the 2016/17 academic year with the five schemes offering retail management placements at John Lewis and Waitrose, head office placements at Waitrose, supply chain placements at Waitrose and partnership services procurement placements across the shared-services division of the John Lewis Partnership.

As well as retail management in branches, students will be offered the chance to work in areas such as agriculture, e-commerce, IT, supply chain, commercial, procurement, insight and marketing.

With all placements lasting 12 months for students in the penultimate year of their degree, John Lewis Partnership said it hoped placement students would be able to re-join the business on graduation through one of its graduate schemes or an advertised role.
