Green Retailing - A new conference from the Retail Bulletin
Archived article dated Wednesday February 7th 2007
How retailers can deliver on their environmental objectives. A one day conference, free for retailers to attend.
This conference, in association with Envirowise and sponsored by Sun Microsystems, has been developed because both businesses and consumers are placing increased emphasis on green issues. The result is that there is growing pressure on retailers to demonstrate that the environment is high on their agenda.
A recent report by the National Consumer Council (NCC), which looked into the green credentials of eight major UK supermarkets, suggests that shoppers want the opportunity to make green choices. Many retailers are already aware of these new socially conscious consumers and realise that 'doing the right thing' is good for business. And although establishing better environmental practice can improve a company's ability to attract and retain customers, an improved public image is not the only incentive for addressing these issues. By becoming more resource efficient, a company can make significant cost savings throughout its operation.Ian Sprange, Publishing Director of the Retail Bulletin said, “This is the first of a series of new groundbreaking conferences that we will be running annually, groundbreaking because they are retailer only and free for retailers to attend. These conferences will allow retailers to be able to network and exchange ideas in a retailer only, relaxed atmosphere".
During the day you will hear from leading retailers such as Boots and SAB Miller, be the first to hear the latest unpublished research from Ipsos Mori on what consumers really think about retailer's efforts to be green. During the afternoon you can choose from four workshops, each run by Envirowise which will be highly informative and interactive:
• Resource efficient design and Packaging
• Strategic Environmental reviews and low cost no cost solutions.
• Greening the Supply Chain and Green Procurement Policies.
• Influencing Behavioural Change and overcoming barriers.
There will be a limited number of exhibiting companies who will be on hand to offer advice who have been selected for their relevance to the subject.
The date is April 30th at the Marriot, Grosvenor Square, London. Spaces are limited. For more information and to register follow the link below.
