Game delivers strong LFL growth

Total sales growth of 86 per cent and like for like sales up by 41.2 per cent.
Profit before tax for the year to 31 January 2008 was £68.4m against £29.5m last year on turnover that increased by 86 per cent to £1,491.9m with like-for-like sales up by 41.2 per cent. In the UK and Ireland total sales increased by 88 per cent and like-for-like sales were up by 42.5 per cent. In its international operations total sales and like-for-like sales increased by 80.2 per cent and 37.9 per cent respectively.
"This performance marks a transformational year with a significant improvement in a number of core business operations, further enhanced by the acquisition of Gamestation in the UK,” said the group. “This is a record set of results and clearly demonstrates that we've taken the right steps to expand the scale and geographic reach of our specialist offer to benefit from the broadening appeal of pc and video games products,” it added.
