Food and drink logistics show set for success

Visitors to William Reed Business Media's specialist Food & Drink Logistics Show at Birmingham's NEC Hall 5 from 21-24 March 2010 are not going to be disappointed.
The Food & Drink Logistics Show provides a unique and dedicated platform for suppliers to showcase their products to top-level decision makers from the food and drink sectors.
Well known names in the world of logisitics will be exhibiting, such as Cert Octavian, CEVA, Culina Logistics, DB Schenker Howard Tenens Associates, Dometic, Zebra Technologies Europe and Norbert Dentressangle, together with companies like LXE UK, Knapp, Dematic, Izuzu and Toyota Material Handling UK.
Presentations in the Business Briefing Theatre will be themed around the three critical areas of sustainability, food safety and security, and innovation. On Sunday Professor Alan Braithwaite will explain how to achieve sustainable supply chain management while on Tuesday Keith Mahoney from Marks and Spencer will draw on his extensive experience to chair a panel discussion on the sustainability issues affecting UK food retailing.
Food safety and food security are hot topics throughout the UK food and drink industry. Visitors to the Show on Wednesday will be able to listen to Brian Young from the BFFF explain how it is possible to maintain safety standards while at the same time conserve energy in temperature-controlled environments. While on Tuesday Nigel Harrison will look at current regulatory challenges from the perspective of the Food Standards Agency.
Other presentations will concentrate on innovation. On Monday Richard Herbage from Premier Foods will discuss what it takes to deliver step changes in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. Then Craig Sears-Black will show how new applications from Isotrak provide real-time information for better operations. On Wednesday Nick Hay from Samworth Brothers Distribution and David Lester from MAN Trucks will describe how they successfully applied telematics to chill consolidation.
The other live events will centre on the Showroom and The Hub. The Showroom is an exciting new area that provides a unique platform to see the latest innovations in vehicles through to fork lift trucks, with the likes of Toyota and Izuzu.
The Hub is a central networking area allowing exhibitors and visitors alike to share current experience and knowledge and to explore opportunities for collaboration.
The exhibition area will see a wide range of new products. Toyota Material Handling UK will be exhibiting the new Toyota Traigo 48v electric counterbalance truck for the first time in the UK, Craemer will feature their new food industry plastic pallets, and Lenham Storage will formally launch its contract packing collaboration with leading co-packer Mailway.
The Food & Drink Logistics Show will be co-located with Foodex, Baking Industry Exhibition, Food & Drink Expo, Convenience Retailing Show, Café+@CRS, Off Licence Show and IFFE to give visitors a complete overview of the food and drink supply chain under one roof.
