Fat Face fends off competition for Skipton Shop

Casual and outdoor clothing retailer Fat Face beat off competition from two other retailers to open a new 4,000 sq ft shop in Skipton, north Yorkshire.

Fat Face has taken a 10-year lease at £73,000 a year on Unit 1, The High Street, Craven Court Shopping Centre.

The unit, previously occupied by greetings card shop Birthdays, has 2,000 sq ft on the ground floor and 2,175 sq ft of storage space on the first floor.

Fat Face was founded by two skiing enthusiasts in 1988 and has 170 stores throughout the UK, including Beverley, Ilkley, Harrogate, Northallerton, Ripon, Sheffield, Leeds and York.

King Sturge acted for landlord Tyburn Lothian No 8 LP; MSBL represented Fat Face.

King Sturge surveyor Richard Padley says: “The launch of Fat Face in Skipton shows that, when the right quality units become available in a good location, there is still high demand. Three retailers were in the race for this unit but Fat Face was the successful bidder. This is a very good deal for Tyburn Lothian No 8 LP in the current climate and brings an exciting new retailer to Skipton which will benefit the whole town centre.”
