Factory Shop signs Woolies stores and staff as sales boom continues
Archived article dated Friday April 17th 2009

The Original Factory Shop has acquired two former Woolworths stores in Chepstow and Cardigan - south Wales, with more in the pipeline as it continues its store expansion drive.
News of the acquisitions comes as the business reports a 12 per cent like-for-like sales increase in the 14 weeks to March 29.
Headed by CEO Angela Spindler, the chain this year celebrates its 40th anniversary and has announced that former Woolworth Sites will feature strongly in the 30 new stores planned for 2009. The firm is also reaping the benefits of hiring many experienced ex-Woolworths employees across its store network.Angela said: “The demise of Woolworths has created opportunities for us not only in terms of sites but also in terms of staff recruitment. We've been able to take on many of those that have lost their jobs at Woolworths and benefit from their years of retail experience.
“When locating our new stores our primary goal is to reach local communities and provide people with great value products right on their doorstep - a proposition that as a nation we've come to enjoy through institutions like Woolworths and which we strongly advocate.”
