Wednesday October 21st 2009

International law firm Eversheds has advised Next, the UK-based fashion retailer, on its entry into the Germany retail market. Eversheds advised Next on its flagship store which opened in the Centrum Galerie, Dresden.

The listed Next-Group plc has more than 500 stores in England and Ireland and a further 170 stores worldwide, as well as a website with more than two million customers. In 2008, the group's turnover exceeded £3.2 billion.

Munich based banking partner Thomas Ziegler led the Eversheds team of advisors supported by real estate counsel Gero Martin, employment partner Frank Achilles, and commercial partner Dr. Alexander Niethammer.

Thomas Ziegler comments: “The retail real estate industry in Germany has not been as hard hit as the UK, following the impact of the credit crunch. Retailers are finding the opportunities in Germany are still favourable and we have seen a steady flow of transactions.”
