Direct Golf bolsters management team with the appointment of Rob Andrew

Direct Golf has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Rob Andrew as director of purchasing and procurement.

Andrew has joined the retailer from American Golf where he worked for five years as clubs buyer. Having started his career in the golf industry at Mitsushiba Golf, he has also worked at JJB Sports where he served as golf equipment buyer for a decade.

His appointment is the latest in a series of high-level hires at Direct Golf following investment by Sports Direct last year. Ecommerce specialist Lee Brown and retail expert Peter Riordan were appointed in October as part of the retailer’s expansion plans which include the opening of 20 new stores by 2018.

Direct Golf founder John Andrew said: “I am extremely excited to have Rob join our senior management team – strengthening our senior management team is a key component to delivering our business’ goals effectively.

“Rob brings with him great credibility in our industry and great supplier relationships, and I believe he will play a major part in the ambitious growth plans I have in store for Direct Golf in 2015.”

Andrew’s appointment has led to purchasing director James Toase moving to the role of direct sales director to enable him to focus solely on Direct Golf’s digital offering working alongside Brown.
