Carpetright looks to snap up rivals

Carpetright is to look at buying weaker peers in a years time according to a report in todays Financial Times.
Lord Harris, chairman and chief executive, said that he group’s balance sheet is relatively healthy and that could open the door for acquisitions. He said that could include an attempt to buy Topps Tiles, the UK tiling chain, although he added: “Not for at least a year.”
The company’s management insists that after 12 months of consolidation and reducing debt it could buy businesses.
