Butlers homeware set for UK expansion

Butlers, a German homeware retailer, has announced plans to open up to 80 stores throughout the UK.
The family-run company, which has over 50 outlets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, opened its first UK store this summer in the Crown Arcade in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey.
Butlers is now looking for further stores of 2,500 to 3,500 sq ft (232 to 325 sq m), in high street locations, initially in central London, then in major cities and shopping centres throughout the UK.James Ebel, director of Harper Dennis Hobbs, comments: “Butlers provides a point of difference for UK landlords. We are looking at the first layer of Cities and towns and the intention is to grow the business in the UK to 80 shops.
“We are in negotiations for a flagship store on Brompton Road. In addition sites have been identified on Regent Street, Kensington High Street and in Covent Garden.” Wilhelm Josten, CEO of Butlers,comments: “Butlers has tested the UK market with the opening of our temporary store in Kingston upon Thames and we are keen to expand across the UK.”
Harper Dennis Hobbs has been retained by Butlers to acquire its UK stores.
