Boots relaunches loyalty offer for over 60s

Healthy and beauty retailer Boots UK is re-launching its loyalty offer to customers over the age of 60. The move forms part of the retailer’s ongoing improvements to its Boots Advantage Card loyalty programme.

Boots said the new programme will offer a wider and more targeted range of benefits to the over 60s. These will include a 25% discount on glasses when spending £79 or more as well as a 15% discount on all hearing aids.  Customers will also receive 10 Boots Advantage Card points for every £1 spent on Boots branded products, which can on products across the store.

Ruth Spencer, director of Loyalty and multichannel at Boots explained: “The vast majority of our over 60s customers have told us that they come to Boots stores for our excellent range of health products and services, but that they also love shopping across the whole breadth of our store offering.

“Most of these customers are living life to the full and want to continue to feel and look their best – they want to accumulate Boots Advantage Card points then come in and treat themselves on things like cosmetics, skincare or pampering products, just like our younger customers.”

The new offering replaces the ‘Boots Health Club’ where members received a 10% discount on Boots branded products.  Spencer added: “Our research showed that whilst these customers like the idea of a package specifically for them, they don’t necessarily want to be categorised as health customers and want the package to better reflect their lifestyle.”

Boots said it believes the new offer will have broad appeal as customer research has shown that more over 60s customers, especially those who already have a Boots Advantage Card, will sign up to the scheme.

The retailer plans to promote the scheme in-store, particularly in the run up to the official launch over the Diamond Jubilee weekend from 2 to 5 June.
