Blacks appoints managing director

Friday July 6th 2012

Outdoor leisure retailer Blacks has appointed Ken Reeve, the Cotswold Outdoors buying and merchandise director, as its new managing director.

Reeve will join Blacks in November, replacing Julia Reynolds who stood down as chief executive of the JD Sports owned business after nine months in the role. Prior to working with Cotswold, Reeve was head of merchandising, production and logistics at shirt retailer Thomas Pink.

Commenting on the appointment Peter Cowgill, JD Sports chairman, said: "We are confident that this is a positive appointment which strengthens the management team and confirms our commitment to the development of the Blacks retail business. All other positions remain unchanged."

JD Sports bought Blacks out of administration in January and since then has restructured the business, closing over 80 Blacks and Millets stores.

Last month, the group forecast a £10 million operating loss and a possible further £5 million for restructuring for the year ending January 2013.
